Jesteśmy w Lipsku. Nie jest to sprawa oczywista, ale nie powinna być zaskakująca dla odbiorcy, który nas trochę zna. Ogłosiliśmy nasze plany ponad pół roku temu na Slocie i posługiwaliśmy się hasłem: „Bejrut czy Aleksandria?”. Zatem co robimy 200 km za polską granicą, zwłaszcza że byliśmy już bliżej Bejrutu czy Aleksandrii przebywając w Belgradzie czy na Malcie?
Nie ma tu wielkiej filozofii a zadecydował raczej splot okoliczności dla nas ważnych. Mianowicie pojawiła się możliwość zwiedzania Europarlamentu z insiderem. Dodatkowo, wciąż na horyzoncie nie było niczego sensownego w Turcji. I tak, zastanawiając się jak pogodzić Strasbourg w marcu z naszą bliskowschodnią orientacją uznaliśmy, że Lipsk nie byłby taki zły. Mamy tu slotowego znajomego, a korzystanie z kontaktów na miejscu jest bardzo satysfakcjonujące.
Kiez (der) to „kwartał, rewir”, w sumie dość potocznie. Mieszkamy w Marienbrunn – spokojnej dzielnicy przy pomniku Bitwy Narodów. Jest stąd blisko do Connewitz – takiej mocno alternatywnej dzielni zlokalizowanej u końca Karli, która to jest centralną ulicą Lipska z restauracjami i rozrywką. Connewitz oferuje wegańskie miejsca wszelkiej maści oraz skupia mnóstwo knajp z muzyką, która nie trafi pewnie do żadnego spodka ani na openery.
We are in Leipzig. This is not an obvious location for us, but it should not be totally surprising for someone who knows us a little. We announced our plans more than six months ago at Slot Art Festival and our slogan back then went: „Beirut or Alexandria?” So what are we doing 200 km from the Polish border? especially that we were way closer to Beirut or Alexandria while staying in Belgrade or Malta!
There is no great philosophy here. A combination of circumstances made us decide to come here. There was an opportunity to visit the European Parliament with an insider. And at the same time, there was still nothing sensible on the horizon in Turkey. Plus, Malta was pretty damn cold in January. So, wondering how to reconcile Strasbourg in March with our long-term Middle East dedication (and central heating), we decided that Leipzig would not be so bad. We have a friend here, and the use of connections on the ground is very rewarding.
Kiez (der) is a ‚quarter, neighborhood’, perhaps a little colloquially. We live in Marienbrunn, a quiet district close to the Monument to the Battle of the Nations. Connewitz is nearby – an alternative quarter located at the end of Karli, which is Leipzig’s central street with lots of restaurants and entertainment. Connewitz offers vegan places of all sorts and the underground scene has a strong presence.
