Bella i Marcin – SO

So – to nie łącznik wyrazów, to jakby trochę niedopowiedziane angielskie salt, no sól. Nam te słowa, w których „zjedzono”ostatnią literkę, podpadły: veče (wieczór), sto (stół). Ale znowu aż tak powszechne zjawisko to to nie jest. Aha, a okazuje się, że Bośnia już jest w rozkroku, gdyż to słówko mają jeszcze po serbsku, natomiast Chorwaci zamykają je już dźwiękiem „l” mówiąc sol, czego Polak się bardziej spodziewa.

So – it’s not a link between words, it’s like a little under-pronounced salt, or Polish sól. The words in which the last letter was „eaten” fell on us: veče (evening – but where’s the final „r”?), sto (table – what happened to the „l” at the end?). But it turns out, this is not such a common phenomenon. BTW, Bosnia is somewhere in-between: they still pronounce the word the Serbian way, whereas the Croats conveniently close it with the „l” sound and say a more expected: sol.
