Rozbrajają mnie fałszywi przyjaciele między językiem polskim a BCS/BHS. Nie umiem nic na to poradzić. Zapętlają mnie jak fraktale i każą zadawać sobie pytania, jak to się stało, że priča to „opowieść” lub „historia” a nie „prycza”, za to „historia” przez wielkie H to już povijest. A „powieść” naturalnie z powyższymi nie ma nic wspólnego, gdyż to z kolei roman. Piękne!
False friends between Polish and BCS/BHS have certain charm in them. I can’t do anything about it. They sort of enchant me and make me follow them in a fractal-like manner. Priča means „opowieść” or „historia” („a story” or „a history”) but does not mean „prycza” („a bunk”). „History” with a capital H, on the other hand, is povijest. And Polish „powieść” („a novel”) naturally has nothing to do with the above, because it is roman. Beautiful!
