Oprócz tego tureckiego słowa opisującego czerń, można również natknąć się na siyah, które pochodzi z perskiego. W opozycji doń stoi ak i także ma synonim, którym jest beyaz o pochodzeniu arabskim. Z ciekawostek: Karadeniz to naturalnie Morze Czarne, ale na południu mają literalnie Morze Białe – Akdeniz, czyli nasze Śródziemne. Karaciğer to wątroba, a akciğer – płuca. Z kolei stare filmy bez koloru są siyah-beyaz. Siyah-beyaz to również barwy Besziktaszu, ale to na inną opowieść. „Biały zamek” Pamuka to Beyaz kale. A „Faceci w czerni” to Siyah Giyen Adamlar. No i na koniec może podejrzewacie już skąd się w polszczyźnie wzięło określanie maści czarnych koni mianem kary? Niezupełnie z tureckiego, ale blisko.

This Turkish word for black has a relative of Persian descent with the same meaning: siyah. Ak is antonymous to them and also has a synonym beyaz that has Arabic roots. Fun facts: (1) Black Sea is called Karadeniz, but the Mediterranean is Akdeniz so, they literally have White Sea in the south. (2) Karaciğer signifies the liver, whereas akciğer – the lungs. On the other hand, old films without color are siyah-beyaz. Siyah-beyaz are also Beşiktaş colors but that’s another story. Orhan Pamuk’s „White Castle” is Beyaz kale. „Men in Black” are Siyah Giyen Adamlar. And finally, maybe you already suspect where the Polish wording for a black horse ointment (kary) comes from? Okay, not exactly from Turkish, but close enough.
