Kasia i Marcin – KOŠARKA

A bliżej mu do wspomnianego wcześniej nogometu, chodzi mianowicie o „koszykówkę”.

Jeśli mówią Wam coś imiona Vlade, Dražen, Toni, to obejrzyjcie koniecznie. Poniżej zajawka.

One of those words that I found difficult to believe does not mean what it seems to mean. It doesn’t mean „kosiarka” (or „mower” in Polish). It is much closer in meaning to a another word mentioned in an earlier post here: nogomet, namely it’s about „basketball”. Such a false friend.

This sport competes for the first place in the Balkans with football much more seriously than it does with volleyball or ski jumping in Poland. Seriously enough to remind me of the documentary „30 for 30: Once Brothers” about the worsening relations between basketball players during the break-up of Yugoslavia. If the once famous NBA names of Vlade, Dražen, Toni ring a bell, watch the video. Above is a trailer.
